I drew this for my lecture for Cartoonists Northwest I had last month, but thought ti also worked as a LOG, as it’s a flashbulb moment of my life.

I missed yesterday, but this isn’t a weekly like it used to be. More chapter based so I think it should be okay.

It’s been a long time since I’ve updated comics, but part of the story is going to be about why, so stay tuned. We’re going to go over depression, anxiety, and other invisible issues.

Really it’s taking a lot of time observing and adding detail. Practice, practice, practice…

This week’s comics are going to focus on childhood pressures to become something great with my talent. My father had an extensive art library full of sketches and paintings of the masters. I knew names like Rembrandt and Picasso before I knew the names of actors. I knew several of their paintings by sight before I could write their names in cursive. I was groomed to be an artist from an early age.

Okay, again, I was in a real funk when I was drawing these (hence the rough drawing, duh)… But, looking in hindsight, had I not drawn these, I would have been worse… in those moments, it was Ian who was helping me through it all. <3
