This is basically a streamlined view of my life thus far. If it doesn’t make sense, let me know.

I like amorphous shapely backgrounds of nothingness…

My mother repeated this story to me from an early age. Repeatedly.

This is true. My parents called me (jokingly) their retirement plan from an early age. This puts a hell of a lot of pressure on a kid.

The teacher told my parents that my drawing was distracting to the other students. The behavioral class had instructors there that were trained to spot personality and mental issues. They realized I was bored, not problematic and required far more stimulation than what I was getting.

This week’s comics are going to focus on childhood pressures to become something great with my talent. My father had an extensive art library full of sketches and paintings of the masters. I knew names like Rembrandt and Picasso before I knew the names of actors. I knew several of their paintings by sight before I could write their names in cursive. I was groomed to be an artist from an early age.

Long time no update! These comics have been hiding in a box in storage for half a year and were drawn well before that. As mentioned in the last post, we’re rearing up for a darker turn in the subject matter towards dealing with depression and other issues. It might be tough to see. When I made these comics I wasn’t ready to show them to anyone. Enough time has passed that they don’t hurt so much.

Since these comics were made, I have changed the ship design. But this opening sequence of the ship coming into view and swinging around is still part of the final product.

This originally started out as a quick one-week story that expanded into something much bigger than that… kind of like how Popeye took over the Caster Oil comic strip back in the ’30’s and ’40s of the last century.

When I was little I had very bad ear aches. While I’m not subject to them as much as an adult, once in a blue moon I get a bad one. I was on some heavy antibiotics at the time that had codeine for the pain. Tweeker was my sleeping body.
